About

My name is Daniel Melchior. Here is a little about me.Daniel's Picture

I am an entrepreneur and independent software developer local to Augusta Georgia. My background is in computer science and I have been developing software and web applications for over 7 years. I am currently working in the fields of web application development and web application security. Because security is such an intriguing and important, yet often overlooked, aspect of web development, I have recently begun to shift more of my focus from developing web applications to securing them. The jump from web development to web security is not a long one, however, and I continue to happily work in both realms.

Open Source Work

Contributing to the open source software community is a passion of mine, particularly in the areas of security and forensics. I am active in a number of projects, including

The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP)
  • An open-source web application security project.
BioJava
  • a popular and well known Java framework for processing biological data
EMBOSS
  • a high-quality package software for use in the field of molecular biology.
The Sleuth Kit (TSK)
  • a vast collection of open source digital forensic tools.

Non-profit work

I happily consider non-profit work for charities, ministries, and other humanitarian organizations. If you would like to bring a project to my attention, please contact me.

Research

I have decided to post some of my academic papers online. You may use them to aid in research of your own. Please do not plagiarize.

Affiliations

I’m a member of the Open Web Application Security Project, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers as well as the Open Bioinformatics Foundation.
